About the No-Choke(TM) Seatbelt Comfort System

I am Gene Robbins, inventor of the No-Choke(TM) Seatbelt Comfort Device.  When I first began thinking of coming up with the device, seatbelt comfort was not the only thing in mind.  Performing duties with a rescue squad a number of years ago, I have been a firsthand witness to many kinds of injuries people suffered when involved in automobile accidents.  Part of the training for this type of work is learning to recognize the mechanics of injuries.

To further explain to you mechanics of injuries:

When approaching the scene of an accident, part of the training is to look for certain damages to the car where the person is located.  For example, a bent steering wheel could likely mean broken ribs or a ruptured spleen, while a cracked windshield could mean a head or neck injuries.  Out of some of the injuries I encountered, one of the most common was a broken collar bone (if the person was wearing a seatbelt).  However, to me it was always worth the trade off to endure a possible broken collar bone rather than being thrown from the car.  The reason the collar bone breaks so easily is because it only takes approximately 12 lbs. of pressure to break the bone.  It is my belief that keeping the seatbelt held closer to the larger bone mass of the shoulder instead of being placed on the weaker collar bone only, which is close to the neck area, could possibly help prevent this type of injury to the collar bone.

Another event that influenced my thinking on seat belt comfort was my father’s battle with throat cancer.  During our four hour trip back and forth from the hospital, I found my father to be constantly pushing the seat belt away from his neck area.  While seeing him do this I found myself doing the same thing, even though is wasn't impacting me the same way.  While he was experiencing pain from the belt, I was just uncomfortable with the belt laying on my neck.  During the long visits at the hospital I really began to put my idea into perspective.  I realized how to solve our problems, by making the seat belt more comfortable for us and anyone else that may have a similar problem.

After making and distributing several No-Choke devices to friends and family, I had received great feedback from all the adults that  were wearing them, but the thought had not crossed my mind that the device could work for a child.  This was until I received feedback from a teenagers mother.  She stated that she loved her No-Coke and was wondering if I had a miniature version for her son because the seat belt would actually cross over the side of his face.  With that in  mind I went back to the original design and made it adjustable with a buckle so that one size fits all.  After making these changes to the No-Choke device it worked exceptionally well for both young and older adults.

If you decide to purchase one of my No-Choke devices I would greatly appreciate any feedback.
